Games I Play

I grew up in a full house hold.  I was the only girl, I had five brothers plus my mom and dad.  Being the youngest and smallest and quietest (I am not exactly very quiet, but compared to the rest of my family, I am demure), I had to entertain myself a lot.

One of my favorite games to play is what I call Word Switch.  For example, take the word child and replace it clown   I often use clown for this game.  Obviously for the laughs.

Now while I was perusing blogs this morning, I came across something I had to word switch on.  Keep in mind, I am not trying to offend any one.

When I changed this one word with Clown, the piece became quite relavent to what a clown is supposed to do.

Prayer of Discomfort

May a Clown bless you with a restless discomfort
about easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships,
so that you may seek truth boldly and love deep within your heart.

May a Clown bless you with anger at injustice, oppression,
and exploitation of people, so that you may tirelessly work for
justice, freedom, and peace among all people.

May a Clown bless you with the gift of tears to shed with those who suffer
from pain, rejection, starvation, or the loss of all that they cherish, so that you may
reach out your hand to comfort them and transform their pain into joy.

May a Clown bless you with enough foolishness to believe that
you really CAN make a difference in this world, so that you are able,
with Clown’s grace, to do what others claim cannot be done.
